Tuberculosis
The White Plague has ravaged humanity throughout history, yet few people today are aware that tuberculosis is a disease that is far from conquered. Never under control in places such as Africa, Asia, and South America, TB has recently menaced Western society, as well, in multi-drug resistant form and in conjunction with the AIDS epidemic. The still-deadly disease and its effects are described, along with current medical and political efforts to stop the infectious spread and save the two million lives that are being lost each year to tuberculosis.
