Diseases and Disorders (Fall 2019)
Even with the vast amount of medical research available
in the 21st century, some diseases are not well understood. New research
frequently renders old information obsolete, making it difficult for the general
public to remain informed about health issues such as learning disabilities,
eating disorders, and sleep disorders. This new research about common mental and
physical disorders is presented to readers through accessible main text
accompanied by informative sidebars, charts, graphs, and full-color photographs
to increase young adults' understanding of these important topics. This increase
in understanding is the first step toward helping those who experience these
illnesses firsthand.
• Accessible text simplifies medical concepts and
scientific data in a way that makes them easy for young readers to
understand
• Reputable organizations to contact for more information are
provided to help readers who have or know someone who has specific health
concerns
• Fully-cited quotes from doctors, medical writers, and relatable
patients provide a comprehensive overview of each medical
condition
